Welcome to the Garfield Park Master Gardener Association (GPMGA).

The goals of the GPMGA are to share knowledge about gardening with our members and others and offer volunteer opportunities.

GPMGA’s Next Meeting: June 10

Our next meeting is Wednesday, June 10, at 6:30 p.m. at White River State Park (801 W. Washington St., across from the JW Marriott Hotel). We will tour the Growing Places Garden and help with some weeding or another garden task.

The Growing Places Farm is a U pick garden with 6,000 acres and has been at the White River State Park since 2010. The farm has the potential for 3.5 million visitors every year because of its location near popular visitor attractions.

They will give us vouchers for free parking in the WRSP garage at 801 W. Washington St. They cannot help with parking at any other location.

Please note you MUST sign a liability waiver before June 10 to participate in the tour! The link is here: GPI Volunteer Liability Waiver

Carpooling for this meeting is encouraged if possible because downtown events mean that the garage can have limited parking. Please bring a camping chair to ensure you can sit in the shade for our meeting and refreshments.

The goal of the Growing Places Farm is to encourage people to think about the role of urban agriculture in Indianapolis and beyond. Increasing urbanization coupled with the challenges of sustainable development in cities have contributed to a growing interest among urban agriculture researchers and policy makers.
